On February 12–13, 2026, the Rector of Ualikhanov University, Marat Syrlybayev, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Dinara Ryspayeva, and Head of the Innovation Department Sayagul Zhaparova took part in the extended meeting of the Board of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan titled “Higher Education and Science: The Year of Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence.

”The meeting was held at Satbayev University in Almaty and was chaired by Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balaeva, and Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek.

  • The meeting brought together university leaders, international partners, representatives of research organizations, and expert communities.
  • During the session, Sayasat Nurbek presented the Ministry’s performance results for 2025 and outlined key objectives for 2026. Special attention was given to the implementation of the Concept for the Development of Higher Education and Science for 2023–2029, issues of digital transformation, the integration of artificial intelligence technologies, improving the quality of specialist training, and strengthening cooperation between science and the industrial sector.
  • In her speech, Aida Balaeva emphasized the importance of enhancing the quality of higher and postgraduate education, highlighting the need for a systematic trilateral collaboration framework between the Ministry, universities, and regional administrations, taking into account labor market demands.
  • The event also featured presentations of innovative projects and scientific developments in the fields of digital technologies, artificial intelligence, agriculture, nanotechnology, metallurgy, the food industry, and other strategically significant sectors.

The extended Board meeting became an important professional platform for defining key priorities for the upcoming year in higher education and science, as well as for strengthening cooperation between the government, universities, and industry amid global technological transformation.
