Catalog of Additional Educational Programs (Minor)
The Minor constitutes an essential component of the new bachelor's degree educational model. Unlike the Major (an educational program chosen by a student to develop core competencies), the Minor is a block of 6-7 interconnected disciplines from a non-core field of study. The number of disciplines chosen for the additional educational program is determined independently by the university.
When establishing the individual learning trajectory within the university component and/or the elective component, students select disciplines from both the primary educational program (Major) and/or the additional educational program (Minor). (Order of the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, dated July 20, 2022, No. 2 "On Approval of State Mandatory Standards of Education at All Levels of Education").
The Minor is open for selection to all students at the end of the first year of the bachelor's degree. It is studied during the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of the bachelor's degree.
Distinctive features of Minor:
- consists of 6-7 disciplines studied sequentially;
- labor intensity of 25 - 35 credits (the labor intensity of each discipline is 3,5,6 credits);
- labor intensity is included in the main part of the educational program (credits for Minor disciplines are included in 240 credits of the main program);
- selected by the student of each educational program independently from the general pool;
