Today, the Akmola Regional Universal Scientific Library named after Magzhan Zhumabayev hosted the official presentation of two new monographs authored by Amanay A. Seitkassymov, Professor of Ualikhanov University, Candidate of Historical Sciences, Associate Professor, Academician of the Academy of History and Social Sciences, and recipient of the “Eren Enbegi Ushin” Medal (Medal for Distinguished Service).

The academic community and the public were introduced to the monographs “The Fate of Akmola Prisoners of War During the Second World War”* and *“Political Repressions in the Akmola, Kokshe-Esil and Atbasar Regions in 1920–1950: History, Research and Lessons.”

These publications are the result of many years of scholarly research, extensive archival work, and field expeditions. In his studies, Professor Seitkassymov explores some of the most tragic and complex chapters of Kazakhstan’s history, shedding light on the lives of victims of political repression, famine, deportations, and prisoners of war during the Second World War through previously underexplored archival sources.

The event brought together representatives of government institutions, scholars, public figures, archivists, librarians, faculty members, students, and members of the regional intellectual community.

Participants highlighted the academic and public significance of the presented research, emphasizing its contribution to restoring historical justice, preserving national memory, and fostering a deeper understanding of the past.

The monographs represent a significant contribution to the study of the history of the Akmola region and Kazakhstan as a whole. By introducing new archival materials and historical evidence into academic discourse, they help preserve the memory of individuals whose lives were profoundly affected by the tragic events of the twentieth century.

Ualikhanov University congratulates Professor Amanay Seitkassymov on the publication of his new monographs and wishes him continued success, good health, boundless inspiration, and many more achievements in his scholarly and research endeavors.
