Ualikhanov University and Industry Partners Prepare Agricultural Professionals with International Experience

Ualikhanov University hosted a meeting of participants in the international Practical Trainee Triesdorf-Kasachstan project, bringing together the University leadership, the project coordinator, students, and representatives of partner companies CT Agro and BHK Agro. The meeting focused on reviewing the outcomes of the students’ academic and practical training in Germany, sharing their experiences, and discussing further cooperation between the University and its industry partners.

Ualikhanov University was represented in the project by four students from the Agrotechnical Institute - Rakhat Yestauletov, Andrey Utkov, Sanat Omirzhan, and Evgeniy Meleshenko. During the meeting, the students shared their experiences in Germany and spoke about the professional skills they had developed while working and studying in a new environment.

Project coordinator Magirash Sharimova presented the key stages of the programme, its objectives, and the results achieved. Practical Trainee Triesdorf-Kasachstan is designed for senior students and combines academic study with practical training. The programme includes four months of study in Germany in English, four months of practical training with an employer, and two months of online seminars. Upon completion, participants receive a certificate from Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT).

One of the key stages of the programme takes place in Germany, where students study at the Triesdorf campus of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences in Bavaria. The programme combines theoretical and practical classes, introduces students to modern production processes, and provides opportunities to work with experienced mentors.

After returning from Germany, the participants continue their practical training in Kazakhstan with CT Agro and BHK Agro. Upon completing their studies and receiving their degrees, the students will continue their professional careers as employees of these companies. In this way, the programme creates a clear pathway from university education and international experience to practical training with an employer and subsequent employment in the students’ chosen field.

The project’s industry partners, CT Agro and BHK Agro, specialise in the supply, implementation, and maintenance of modern agricultural machinery and represent leading global agricultural technology brands in Kazakhstan. The companies also provided financial support for the students’ participation in the international programme, including expenses related to their stay and training in Germany.

This year, the project brought together Ualikhanov University, Kozybaev University, and Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences (HSWT).

For Akmola Region, where agriculture plays an important role in the regional economy, training qualified professionals for the sector is particularly significant. Cooperation between the University and specialised companies makes it possible to take employers’ actual needs into account during the educational process and to prepare graduates with skills and competencies that are in demand across the agricultural sector.

During the meeting, representatives of CT Agro and BHK Agro highly commended the preparation and performance of Ualikhanov University students. The parties also discussed the further development of the project and prospects for expanding cooperation between the University and its industry partners.

Practical Trainee Triesdorf-Kasachstan is an example of effective cooperation between a regional university, an international academic partner, and the private sector. This model brings together academic education, international experience, and hands-on professional training while, most importantly, preparing specialists in line with the region’s specific workforce needs and creating a direct pathway to employment in their chosen field.
