Ualikhanov University Joins the Erasmus+ UNIFUND International Project

Ualikhanov University has joined the European Union’s Erasmus+ KA2 CBHE project 101324934, “University Endowment Fund Development in Kazakhstan (UNIFUND)”, an international initiative aimed at advancing university endowment funds in Kazakhstan.

The project is coordinated by L.N. Gumilyov Eurasian National University, which serves as the project’s grant holder and lead institution.

The primary goal of UNIFUND is to strengthen the financial sustainability and academic independence of universities in Kazakhstan by developing a robust university endowment system.

The project will focus on:

• fostering an endowment culture across universities in Kazakhstan;
• strengthening the regulatory, legal, and methodological framework;
• establishing a National Association of University Endowments;
• developing a digital platform for university endowment funds;
• introducing modern approaches to endowment management and attracting non-budgetary funding;
• facilitating the exchange of expertise and best practices between Kazakhstani and European universities.

Participation in UNIFUND will provide Ualikhanov University with new opportunities to exchange international expertise, strengthen its institutional capacity, and introduce modern mechanisms for long-term financial sustainability.
