As part of Kazakhstan’s nationwide Cybersecurity Awareness Month, Ualikhanov University held a training seminar on information security for department heads, faculty members, and administrative staff.

The seminar focused on improving digital literacy, raising awareness of cyber threats, and encouraging responsible handling of corporate and personal data.

During the session, the university’s Information Security Officer explained the key requirements of the Information Security Policy and internal regulations. Particular attention was paid to handling official documents, including information marked “For Official Use Only” and “Confidential.”

Participants also discussed the proper use of corporate communication channels and the rules for sharing personal data and work-related documents. The seminar covered restrictions on using third-party services and messaging apps for work purposes. Employees were also reminded of the importance of keeping their electronic digital signature (EDS) keys secure, never sharing them with others, and taking personal responsibility for their protection.

Another important topic was the safe use of artificial intelligence at work. The session highlighted the need to protect confidential information and avoid uploading internal documents or personal data to publicly available AI tools.

The seminar is part of the university’s efforts to build a stronger culture of information security, help employees better understand digital risks, and ensure compliance with Kazakhstan’s data protection legislation.

Information security is an important part of Ualikhanov University’s digital transformation and a shared responsibility of every employee.
